A dynamic Dancing Car takes center stage at Exciting Island. This engaging attraction demonstrates how SK’s forward-thinking technologies are shaping the future of electric vehicle (EV) mobility. The Dancing Car narrates the success of an EV propelled by SK’s cutting-edge technologies, winning in a race. This story intends to emphasize how SK contributes to next generation mobility while providing a powerful message that we as a society would not be able to pursue happiness without continuous progress towards sustainability goals.

SK Innovation and its subsidiaries have emerged as leading players in the fast-evolving landscape of mobility through expertise in EV-related technologies including battery manufacturing, material development, and thermal management solutions.

Particularly, SK On focuses on battery cell R&D, production, and related services. Jointly, SK IE Technology (SKIET) further enhances the safety and performance of EV batteries as the world leading LiBS (Lithium-ion Battery Separator) developer and producer. SK Enmove, another subsidiary of SK Innovation, develops e-fluids to protect EV electrical components, improve thermal management, and increase efficiency to extend driving range. Overall, with the advancements in battery performance, energy efficiency, and extended safety, it was clear to us that SK is on the right track to providing the solution package for EV manufacturers and users.

We also had a chance to learn that one of the most popular electric trucks in the U.S, Ford F-150 Lightning, is equipped with SK On’s NCM9* battery. The NCM9 battery is famous for its unrivaled safety technology and quality as it provides better battery output and increased energy efficiency, enabling EVs to achieve high performance. In addition, NCM9 uses the Z-folding technique, where separators are evenly stacked in a zigzag manner that prevents fire inside the cell, to support the safe proliferation of EV’s on roads. We felt assured that SK On’s efforts in battery development were outstanding and look forward to the LFP, Co-Free, and All-solid-state batteries that SK On will soon enter the market.
*NCM9: NCM is the abbreviation of Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt, which are the three main materials of the battery, and number 9 indicates that this type of battery cell has the proportion of nickel up to nearly 90%.
