SK Innovation donates $50,000 to help local residents in Oklahoma fight COVID-19

SK Innovation, donated 50,000 US dollars to the United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma(1) (United Way of Enid) to support the local community during COVID-19, through its subsidiary SK E&P America(2). On May 19 (local time), Dan Schiedel – CEO of United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma, Johnny Rowe – Superintendent of SK E&P America, Inc. Superintendent and Chief of the Enid and other staff from SK E&P America attended the donation event took place at the United Way of Enid office.
(1) United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma: an autonomous community resource governed by a local Board of experienced volunteers, with various activities focused on health, education and income
(2) SK E&P America: a subsidiary of SK Innovation, headquartered in Houston, Texas, U.S. and in charge of oil exploration and shale gas, shale oil development business

 

In 2014, SK Innovation established SK Plymouth to acquire a 75% stake in an oil field in Garfield and Grant Counties, Oklahoma, and also 50% stake in another oil field in Crane County, Texas to produce shale gas and shale oil. In addition, the company acquired the whole stake of Longfellow Nemaha, LLC, an American shale developer to secure Nemaha block in March 2018.

 

SK Innovation is constantly making the effort to fulfill the management philosophy of SK Group, which seeks to maximize the happiness of all stakeholders. This donation also aims to create social value through win-win cooperation with the local community in Oklahoma, where the company’s business site is located.

As of May 11, there were 4,733 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Oklahoma. Along with the economic downturn, the Enid community is also facing other difficulties such as lack of testing equipment. The 50,000 USD donation will be assigned to the ‘United Way of Enid & NW OK COVID-19 Response Fund’, which is being operated by a coalition of philanthropy, government, and business partners to support local residents affected by COVID-19. Specifically, the donation will be used to provide 1500 hygiene kits (facemasks, hand sanitizers, etc.) to the low-income community and support IT devices and Wi-Fi for remote learning for students in the neighborhood of Enid.

 

 

 

 

Previously, on May 14 (local time), SK Innovation also made a 400,000 USD donation to Augusta University in Georgia, where the company’s first EV battery plant is located. The firm’s continuous contributions to the society are showing that SK Innovation is taking the lead in practicing SK Group’s management philosophy of pursuing the happiness for various stakeholders.
