SK Innovation resumed “Sharing Happiness, Carrying on Love” program to support the elderly living alone
2023.06.05 | SKinno News

In South Korea, the high percentage of seniors living alone, which often leads to problems such as neglected physical health, mental health, ageism, and financial insecurity, is a big social issue.

To tackle this, in 2016 SK Innovation affiliates decided to include “supporting the elderly living alone” as a major theme of their company-wide CSR activities. Among various programs related to this theme, “Sharing Happiness, Carrying on Love” is a regular volunteer program participated by many SK Innovation members every year to bring love and warmth to the seniors who stay alone. Due to the pandemic, the program was suspended in a while, but this year it has finally resumed. From the third week of May to the second week of June this year, together with the local social workers, the company members and leaders volunteered to visit the elderly living alone. The volunteers brought gifts, cleaned the seniors’ houses, and shared heart-warming time talking together.
