■ Producing an eco-friendly advertisement in line with the Green Transformation strategy propelled by all companies of SK Innovation
■ Reflecting eco-friendly elements in SK ZIC Zero advertisement, from the video and posters to giveaways
– Reducing power consumption required for the video production by reusing existing advertisement cuts
– Posters made of eco-friendly papers produced by Grape Lab, and giveaways made by Montsenu; both are social enterprises supported by SK Innovation
■ Planning to broaden the product lineup for eco-friendly lubricants such as low viscosity engine oil for heavy freight vehicles
On September 1st (KST), SK Lubricants launched a new “legit” environment-oriented SK ZIC ZERO campaign that reflects the company’s commitment to green business practices.
SK Lubricants, a SK Innovation’s subsidiary specialized in lubricant business, prepared this advertising campaign to showcase eco-friendly elements from the video production to a giveaway event, let alone SK ZIC ZERO product itself. This is consistent with the Green Transformation strategy that is being enforced all companies of SK Innovation.
The new SK ZIC ZERO campaign is considered a “legit” eco-friendly advertisement for its special making process. The advertising crew used natural lights and self-powered lighting for filming and kept the background image composition for the product minimum. Furthermore, it broke the conventional practice of car commercials that shoots a new driving scene every time a video is released, reusing the previous cuts in 2014 video for 8 seconds out of the total 60 seconds running time. This demonstrates the company’s intention to reduce the power consumption necessary for producing the commercial.

SK Lubricants released the teaser clip of new SK ZIC ZERO campaign on SK ZIC’s official Youtube channel on August 20th, and the video has gained much attention by reaching one million views so far. The full version of the video was unveiled on September 1st, and along with the online promotion on Youtube, SK Lubricants also launched the billboard advertising around Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea on the same day.
Not only the commercial video but also the SK ZIC ZERO advertising posters were produced in an eco-friendly way. The final posters were printed on the Earth pact, which is a non-wood, biodegradable material made from sugarcane.
Besides, the giveaways for the Youtube video comment event is eco-friendly as well. The products that will be given for the event winners are the laptop stands made by Grape Lab and T-shirts made by Montsenu, all are eco-friendly products made by social enterprises supported by SK Innovation. This event will be held until September 30, 2021. The details can be found on the SK ZIC event homepage (https://skziczeroecocampaign.co.kr). (Domestic only.)
At the heart of this campaign, the SK ZIC ZERO product itself is an eco-friendly ultra-low viscosity engine oil (0W) that lowers fuel consumption and carbon emissions by improving fuel economy. The lower the figure in front of W, the better its fluidity and the lower the viscosity. Thus, it tends to maximize the engine protection feature and fuel economy improvement while being excellent in reducing emission gas such as CO2.
SK Lubricants is studying to maximize the environmental effect of lubricants through assiduous eco-friendly lubricant technology research. Aside from SK ZIC, it plans to expand its eco-friendly lubricant lineups such as low-viscosity engine oil for heavy freight vehicles and others.
SK Lubricants’ efforts to go green can be found not just in its lubricant products but also in its product containers. Earlier in July, the company has annouced that it would apply eco-friendly containers to its flagship product group – SK ZIC X7, SK ZIC X7000, which account for 30% of the lubricant product sales of the company. Accordingly, it is expected that about 100 tons of plastic wastes can be recycled per year.
Jin Jae-young, Head of SK Lubricants’ Global Biz said, “SK Lubricants has wholeheartedly prepared this campaign to deliver the eco-friendly influence of lubricants in its commercial, from the advertising video and poster production to giveaways, not to mention SK ZIC ZERO product.” “We will endeavor to our best ability to take the lead in practicing ESG management in the industry,” he added.
