■ Promotions backing Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo were held in various places in Korea such as the media wall at Seoul headquarters, the electronic signboard at the Jeju World Cup Stadium, etc.

■ SK Innovation will also support the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo at the world’s largest plastics exhibition to be held in Germany

■ SK Innovation Vice Chairman Kim Jun encourages the company’s subsidiaries to promote the bid actively during the Expo bid period

SK Innovation and its eight subsidiaries (SK Energy, SK Geo Centric, SK On, SK Lubricants, SK IE Technology, SK Incheon Petrochem, SK Trading International, and SK Earthon) are actively supporting Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo.

SK Innovation announced on September 21 (local time) that it started playing a video showing the company’s support of Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo on the large media wall located in the first floor lobby of the SK headquarters at Seorin Building in Seoul. Starting with the screening of the promotional video at Seoul headquarters, SK Innovation affiliates plan to actively publicize Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo through their tangible and intangible infrastructure across the country.

The company’s activities in Jeju also commenced. Jeju United FC, a professional soccer team managed by SK Energy, is delivering promotional messages on the World Expo through player uniforms, soccer team buses, and electronic billboards at Jeju World Cup Stadium. After scoring at a recent match, Jeju striker Kim Joo-gong attracted the attention of soccer fans by holding up a banner that read, “SK and Jeju UTD will work together for the success of Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo.”

SK Innovation’s support for Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo started with the encouragement of Vice Chairman Kim Jun. Vice Chairman Kim recently spread a message to the key management teams of the company’s subsidiaries on how SK Innovation affiliates should add efforts to support Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo. In response, SKI is engaged in company-wide activities, such as designating a person in charge for the project for each company. Vice Chairman Kim visited Poland last month to meet the Polish Minister of Economic Development and Technology and requested support for Busan’s bid for the World Expo.

SK Innovation is actively taking advantage of various opportunities, such as engraving support messages for Busan’s bid for the 2030 World Expo on souvenirs of recruitment briefing sessions and attaching the promotional logo for the Expo on the company introduction materials at external events. SK Energy plans to post placards with a message about Busan’s bid for the Expo at gas stations and charging stations in Busan, Gyeongnam Area, and the Seoul Capital Area. SK Lubricants is contributing to the publicity of World Expo 2030 Busan by adding words of encouragement to the TV commercial for its lubricant product (ZIC), which has recently started airing.

Overseas promotional activities will also continue. SK Geo Centric will deliver a promotional video on World Expo 2030 Busan at the K-Show exhibition, which is the world’s largest plastics and rubber product fair, to be held in Germany next month, and the product brochures will also include the World Expo 2030 Busan bid logo.

SK Innovation plans to continue promotions through various activities until the bid for the Expo is decided. An SK Innovation official said, “After Chairman Chey Tae-won took on the role of chairperson of the private sector to support the 2030 World Expo bid, SK is continuing its active efforts such as organizing the WE (World Expo) TF at the group level. We will all do our best at home and abroad to help host the World Expo 2030 Busan.”
