SK On announces the launch of its ‘Job Specialty College,’ a new initiative within the SK On Academy (SKONA) aimed at advancing the professional skills of its employees through comprehensive, advanced training programs.
On October 8 (KST), SK On hosted an orientation at the Gran Seoul Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where 40 of the 124 selected employee-instructors gathered to learn effective teaching methods from professional educators. This initiative leverages internal talent, with SK On employees stepping into instructor roles to cultivate expertise and systematically develop in-house specialists.
Established in January of last year, SK On Academy offers over 300 online and offline courses covering essential battery knowledge, production processes, product insights, and future industry trends, alongside corporate strategies and organizational structure.
The newly introduced Job Specialty College expands on this foundation with advanced courses organized by job domain and proficiency levels—Basic, Advanced, and Expert—available in both online and offline formats. This program is unique in that SK On employees, rather than external instructors, lead the training, thereby enhancing the company’s intellectual capital.
Initially, the program will focus on four key areas: manufacturing technology, quality, procurement, and digital technology, with plans to expand into research and development, finance, and sales. The curriculum emphasizes problem-based learning (PBL) to equip employees with practical problem-solving skills.
Looking ahead, SK On plans to refine its curriculum and elevate its academic management to a university-like framework, incorporating competency certification systems and credit-based courses centered on core subjects. Efforts are also underway to introduce full-time instructor roles to ensure a high level of teaching expertise.
“Our commitment to investing in people and research remains steadfast as we prepare for the future,” said Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK On. “Our goal is to develop SK On’s in-house university to transform our team members into industry-leading experts.”
