On January 8, SK hi-tech battery materials China (SKBMC) and BEST members gathered to held a campaign BEST to raise awareness on the importance of waste segregation in the local community of Changzhou, where their manufacturing facilities are located. It was also part of their efforts to enhance of local ESS activities.

SKBMC is a battery separator manufacturing subsidiary SK IE Technology, and BEST is the name of the JV battery cell production plant of SK On’ and Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings (BAIC) and Beijing Electronics Holding.

The event aimed to raise interest among the people of Changzhou on the gravity of environmental pollution and ecosystem balance and to increase awareness on the preservation of the environment. It was held in Wuyue Square, the largest shopping center with a great number of people passing by in the entire city. There, SKBMC and BEST members campaigned by spreading the message such as “Segregating waste starts from me,” and “Let’s create a new culture to protect the Earth,” among others. They also called for the importance of participation in creating a sustainable future.

In the campaign booth, the members held various activities and games for visitors to experience the waste segregation themselves. Moreover, they informed the visitors about the right way to dispose of waste and promoted the need for the waste bins designed for waste segregation, raising awareness among the participants on the importance of environment protection.

The event ended with great success, thanks to the efforts exerted by SKBMC and BEST members. It received a lot of attention from the citizens who visited the booth and enjoyed the activities. A member who participated in this campaign shared that she will continue to join more meaningful event like this to protect the environment, and will start taking more eco-friendly habits in her daily life.

SKBMC and BEST plan to continuously expand the ESG values to take the role of a bridge between companies and society, and it aims to become the model of social responsibility of a company as it proceeds with the activities to promote social values.
