In last July, SK IE Technology broke ground on a new separator factory in Dąbrowa Górnicza city in śląskie state, considering the accessibility of customers such as global battery manufacturers. The factory, currently under construction, has a capacity of 340 million㎡ and will start production during the third quarter of 2021. Besides, it will create more than 300 jobs by 2021, contributing largely to the revitalization of the local economy in Poland.
Jerzy Kwiecinski, the minister of Investment and Economic Development, said, “our success in attracting the factory this time marks the standing point of Poland’s role as a vanguard in the market of separator, which is an indispensable material in the battery of electric vehicle, in Europe where investments in electric vehicle are active.”
Prior to the Polish factory, SK IE Technology set out to increase equipment in Korea to meet the market demand for the separator. In last September, it held an equipment installation ceremony for LiBS No. 12, 13, and FCW (Flexible Cover Window)** in its Jeungpyeong factory. With full-fledged production expected in November, the company’s capacity to produce separators rises to 530 million ㎡.

SK IE Technology plans to increase the global capacity of separator production to 25 billion ㎡ by 2025 by securing new equipment in Korea, China, and Poland, and become the number one global player in the separator market by achieving a market share of up to 30%.
