SK Innovation continues to make efforts to protect the planet through various programs in and outside Korea. One of the company’s biggest campaigns for environmental protection, the Sanhaejinmi Plogging Campaign, has spread to Europe. A few weeks ago, SK hi-tech battery materials Poland, an overseas subsidiary of SK IE Technology, became the first business unit of the company in Europe that took part in the campaign.
Sanhaejinmi Plogging is part of SK Innovation’s ESG activity participated by the members of the whole company, including all of its subsidiaries. The Korean name of the campaign, Sanhaejinmi, means “protecting the mountains (san) and seas (hae) to realize the true (jin) beauty (mi) of the planet.
After CEO of SK Innovation Kim Jun kicked off the plogging campaign on June 4th, other members of the company, including the other CEOs, has been actively participating in the campaign in and outside Korea. In late June, SK Global Chemical members working at Shanghai also joined the campaign, spreading the positive influence in China.
SKBMP is the first among SK Innovation’s European subsidiaries and branches that took part in the Sanhaejinmi Plogging campaign. On June 28th and July 9th, 140 members of SKBMP went plogging around Lake Pogoria, a popular local vacation spot located in Dabrowa Gornicza, Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. The plogging activity took place after the Polish government lifted the obligation to wear masks outdoors in mid May.

The members that participated in the plogging activity picked up plastic waste and cigarette butts on the beach and the trail around Lake Pogoria. On July 9th, CEO of SKBMP Park Byoung-chul also joined the company members’s plogging activity in order to create a cleaner environment and better local community together.

Despite the scorching sun and the unprecedented heat, the plogging activity was filled with enthusiasm and smiles on the face of all participants. The Dabrowa Gornicza residents who enjoyed outdoor activities Lake Pogoria also cheered the members up, showing interest in the plogging activity.

It was also said to be a good chance for the company’s members to strengthen their bonding. SKBMP plan to make plogging a regular activity to continue their efforts for protecting the environment in Poland.
