To celebrate Earth Day this year, today SK Global Chemical has started a one-month plogging activity in China and Korea. The program aims to encourage people to keep a healthy lifestyle while protecting the environment.
On the 22nd, CEO of SK Global Chemical Na Kyung-soo and company members kick off the program by participating in plogging activity in the Han River area in Seoul, Korea, collecting garbage including plastic waste like plastic bags and disposable cups. The event was also taken up by members of SK Global Chemical working at Daejeon, Ulsan, and Shanghai on the same day.

Especially, due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation in Korea, SK Global Chemical’s plogging event will be conducted in small groups with less than 5 people in compliance with the government’s social distancing regulations.
Plogging first started in Sweden in 2016 and is gaining popularity all over the world. It was even taken up by the President of Iceland Gudni Johannesson, as he was spotted plogging around the Presidential Residence in 2018.
During SK Global Chemical’s plogging event, which runs from April 22nd to May 21st, members of the company are expected to actively practicing plogging at various locations, including at home and at work. By taking photos and sharing them, they can encourage other members and the public to join and support this activity.

Especially, SK Global Chemical will use eco-friendly biodegradable plastic bags made of PBAT (Poly Butylene Adipate-co-Terephthalate) material, which was jointly developed by the company and Kolon Industries to collect the garbage during this event.
