Waste heat refers to all heat discarded during the entire process of using energy. Since the heated energy that was already generated gets discarded, it not only wastes energy but also causes environmental pollution.

SK Incheon Petrochem focused on this waste heat and pursued a project to utilize the heat as a cooling and heating source for residential areas. This became the beginning of energy upcycling and the Process Heat Source Recovery Project.
