Due to prolonged global pandemic, job seekers are having harder time finding the right company. Nam Gyu-min, SK On’s Battery Planning Office Management Unit, who also had had worries about his future and career, has successfully found his place in SK On after all the concerns he had. Here is his brand-new employment story.

Q1. How did you feed when you heard that you were hired by SK?

For a year that I had been preparing for my job application, I was worried much about my future and career. When I heard the good news from SK, I felt relieved and unburdened at the same time, having confidence that I will be able to find the answer in SK On.

Q2. How did your parents react?

My parents said, “We are not only glad that you joined such a good company, but also happy that you can take your mind off from those concerns”. I felt so touched when I heard that, because I realized my parents had always been sharing my concerns even though they hadn’t talked about it.

Q3. We’ve heard that SK Innovation runs new employee educational program through metaverse.

It was my first time to use Zoom or Metaverse this much. To my taste, I had a chance to make a cute avatar that can run around and dance in a virtual space. I also got impressed that the communication in the virtual world can be as good as that of the real world.

Q4. How did you feel about this new employee educational program?

I was able to develop a more concrete understanding of SKMS* and the right person for SK, on which I only had an abstract image before I joined this company. In addition, while participating in a team project on ESG topic, I could have a better understanding on the key management goal of SK Innovation.

* SKMS: the abbreviation of SK Management System, epitomizing the management philosophy and unique corporate culture of SK.

Q5. Last but not least, what is your goal as a new member SK On?

As much as I am thrilled to be in a new environment and meet new people, I am also nervous. However, I am waiting for the moment to exercise the competencies that I developed to join this company. I want to do my best to develop my capacities and align them with the development of SK On. In addition, I won’t forget every moment I work here can be a pivotal moment for the development of our company. Most importantly, I want to stay as a happy member at SK.
