2022 SK On CEO New Year’s Greetings
2022.01.03 | SKinno News

Dear SK On members,
The Year of Tiger has begun. I wish everyone in our SK On family begins the new year with a fresh start and infinite possibilities.

The year 2021 was monumental in that we took the first step as “SK On” and set a solid foundation with achievements for fulfilling our Financial Story. We increased global OEM orders, attracted substantial new clients, and stunned the industry with unprecedented large-scale orders that included partnerships. Furthermore, we completed the tough challenge of establishing a global multi-production system, such as the commercial operation of the Yancheng plant in China, the completion of the second plant in Hungary and the first plant in the United States, and the investment decision in the Iváncsa plant, among others. Our accumulated total orders have already surpassed 1,600GWh, signifying the fastest growth in the sector and putting us in contention for the title of “Global No. 1.” It is all thanks to every member of SK On who surmounted a difficult situation and little resources to give their all. I would like to offer my heartfelt appreciation for your efforts and devotion once more.

Last year, on Comm. Day for the group, I highlighted “Growing Dreams, Our Challenges.” The new year, known as the Year of the Black Tiger, will be a year in which we rush and roar like tigers toward our magnificent goal of becoming Global No. 1. To that end, I would like to make three request.

First, let us enhance product competitiveness by providing the finest products.
We promised our clients and the market that we would provide the safest, most cost-effective, and highest-performing batteries. It is necessary to attain such product-based competitiveness in order to accomplish our Financial Story. We will work tirelessly to ensure price competitiveness by reinforcing/maintaining safety while meeting a wide range of client needs with a variety of products.

Second, let us upgrade our production level and capacity.
We now require an organizational-wide capacity to fulfill the blueprint of our expanding dreams. We also need to make a deliberate effort to maintain the stability of the global mass-production system that we have vigorously constructed so far. At the same time as we build a stable production system on the levels of processes and systems, we will prepare for a system that continues to recruit and cultivate talented human resources.

Third, let us do our best to improve implementation capability in order to achieve our Financial Story.
We’ve completed the master plan for SK On’s Financial Story, which encompasses our future visions based on the performance. What we need to do now is work on increasing our implementation capability in order to make it accomplished. To begin, we will need to generate excellent financial results, as well as early achievement of operating rates/yield rates at the SUPEX level, in order to create an engine for a virtuous circle. Furthermore, continued exploration for global partnering opportunities and their realization will be our leverage to boost our potential to reach the Global No. 1 position.

Everyone in SK On,
If we achieve these three missions with full force, our vision will come as a “prepared future,” as I indicated in my inaugural speech for the establishment of SK On last year. Please keep in mind that the ultimate goal of our challenges to the growing dreams is to maximize happiness for everyone, and I, along with other leaders, will take the initiative to make SK On a happier workplace. I implore you to join forces at this historical juncture.
I wish you and your families good health, joy, and happiness in the new year 2022.
