SK Innovation has announced to hold a global forum in San Francisco, the U.S. on October 2nd to fully set out to acquire talents.
In this global forum, SK Innovation invites a huge number of qualified and competent individuals with expertise in the fields intensively fostered by the company, including battery, the next-generation battery, environment, and environmentally-friendly materials, and others. To do so, the company moved the venue of the event from traditional New Jersey, the Eastern Part of the U.S. to San Francisco where the skilled people of the core technologies are clustered.
SK Innovation plans to hire them to accelerate the growth through a deep change, which is an ongoing project pursued by the company. In other words, the company intends to obtain core talents to attain the so-called ‘Carbon to Green’ strategy, an initiative to transform its petrochemical-oriented business structure into a greener one.
As significant as the event is to the company, the management comes forward to find the key manpower. SK Innovation CEO Kim Jun himself will make a presentation to illustrate the blueprint of the company’s green business and share the future visions.
CEO Kim Jun states, “The competitiveness of a company stems from obtaining a talented pool of highly skilled workers. We will recruit core talents to shoulder SK Innovation’s future and complete our financial story and innovative strategy for corporate value- ‘Carbon to Green’ at any cost.”
The President of SK Innovation’s Battery Business Jee Dong-seob has also shown his will to grow the company as one of the global top enterprises by securing talents in the field of battery. Head of the company’s Institute of Environmental Science & Technology Lee Seong-jun, and Head of Battery R&D Center Rhee Jang-weon will also partake in the event and in-depth discussions with participants on the technologies under intensive cultivation.
Spearheaded by battery and material businesses, SK Innovation is garnering successful change in the corporate fundamentals to environmentally-friendly business.
Its battery business is already leading the global market by securing an order backlog of 1,000 GWh. Comparing with its 2017 order backlog was 60 GHh, it marks over 16-times growth. The battery business is ready to be launched after being separated from the parent company on the first day of the next month.
After the spin-off from SK Innovation in 2019, SK IE Technology (battery and material businesses) grasped the highest market share in the global market for premium Lithium ion Battery Separator (LiBS) in two years last year. And as it successfully filed an IPO in May this year, its reputation as a battery material stock gets even stronger.
Meanwhile, SK Geo Centric, previously known as SK Global Chemical, focuses on acquiring talented core manpower and takes an initiative to transform its corporate structure into an ‘eco-friendly chemical enterprise’ in the petrochemical industry.
Choi Kyung-lak, Head of SK Innovation’s Talent Development Office disclosed, “While the COVID-19 situation continues, we should still promptly put the highest priority to back up the growth of a green business such as a battery. Starting from the U.S., we are planning to widen the reach of the event to include other countries such as Europe and Japan.”
