Let’s take a big leap forward as the Green Energy and Solution Provider this year!

 

The morning of 2023, the Year of Gyemyo (Black Rabbit), has begun. Happy New Year, and all good wishes to you in 2023.

 

Last year was like a roller coaster due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the upheavals, which the world had to suffer consequentially, including fluctuation of global oil prices, etc. Nevertheless, each and every one of us strove to secure the foundation for the company’s sustainable growth. As a result, we could make many accomplishments, including successful completion of turn around (T/A), still-ongoing 900 days of Accident Free Record, Eco-friendly Green Business, etc. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate your dedication that each one of you has made in your position.

 

This year is the Year of the Black Rabbit. As a rabbit crouches to leap higher, this year will be the year for us all to overcome all the crises and go higher together. The global recession is expected to be continued this year, and our journey will be a foggy path, probably with many obstacles. However, the company will make 2023 the foundation for continued growth through challenges and innovation with every one of us. To do so, I am going to stress out three focuses to achieve our goal as the following:

 
First, we have to secure sustainability based on competitiveness regarding SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) and Reliability.
 

We have to secure top-class SHE and reliability and take advantage of them as our asset and weapon to make profits while adapting ourselves to ever-changing market environment with agility, and minimize costs while developing new potential for profits. This will let us achieve flexible operation of the plants based on the employees’ creativity and innovation founded on safe operation. So far, we have tried hard in various ways and improved our SHE and reliability significantly. Still, there is room for more improvement to reach the top level in the world. Just a little bit more of improvement and innovation are needed to have to promote the company value to the next level. Also, it is crucial to solidify the company’s sustainability. Together with shared wisdom and united power, we can be the world’s best.

 
Second, we have to strengthen the core for growth through Green Transformation.
 

The heart of the Financial Story of our company is to improve the profitability of existing projects through various ways, including the development of new profitable projects while responding to the decrease of demand for transportation oil products, and eventually promote the corporate value by Carbon to Green growth. Our company is trying to turn the de-carbonization crisis into our opportunities. We are conducting a concrete transition option optimized for the low-carbon emissions, such as relocation and utilization of existing assets. Also, we push forward with various projects for Green Biz Transformation, such as bio-fuel, plastic recycling, waste-to-energy of farm waste, selling byproduct hydrogen, etc. Green Innovation Promotion Office is newly established to get practical results from the projects and have them more improved. With the participation and support of all the members, our company is going to build the foundation for itself to leap higher and be recognized as “a company contributing more values to the environment and the community.”

 
Third, we have to raise our organizational culture with no fear and continuously enhance the capabilities of staff members
 

For the success of the ‘Financial Story’, it is essential to continuously enhance the capabilities of members, as well as to raise our fearless work culture, which means an expression of opinions based on mutual respect and trials undaunted by failures. Recently, we are witnessing optimistic changes little by little, thanks to members’ efforts to make such culture. These changes increase communication while decreasing the huddles for new challenges. Also, the T/A has been completed successfully, thanks to every member who tried his/her best. We will strive our best until the day that fearless work culture is completely fully established, and continuous enhancement of the competence of members becomes one of the identities of SKIPC.

I know that our staff members are passionate about overcoming crises and building a great future together. I believe this year is momentous for our company to upgrade itself as the “Green Energy & Solution Provider.” I hope all of you become pioneers, planning new objectives and trying them all together with the company.
