SK IE Technology holds The 4th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, appointing President Kim Cheol-jung as new CEO

■ The 4th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and a board meeting were held at SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on March 27

■ The Shareholders’ Meeting passed main agendas including approval of the financial statement and appointments of directors as originally proposed

■ The new CEO Kim Cheol-jung pledged to “constantly create new market-leading business opportunities”

 

SK IE Technology (SKIET) announced that it had held The 4th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and a board meeting at SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul on March 27, appointing President Kim Cheol-jung as new CEO.

 

At The 4th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on that day, SKIET resolved agendas including approval of the 4th financial statement as well as appointments of candidate Kim Cheol-jung as Executive Director, candidate Song E-young and Kang Yul-ri as Independent Director, and candidate Kim Tae-hyun as Independent Director who will be also a Audit and Corporation Compliance Committee Member.

 

SKIET revealed that President Kim Cheol-jung has a high understanding of the secondary cell material business as well as the company’s existing business, accumulated while serving as a Non-Executive Director
of SKIET (from March 2021 to March 2022), and his capabilities in taking the initiative to find new growth powers were recognized when he was Head of Portfolio Divisional Group of SK Innovation before appointed as President. President Kim was appointed as CEO in the board meeting held following the Shareholders’ Meeting which had co-opted him as Executive Director.

 

The agenda of Independent Director Appointments for Song E-young, Kang Yul-ri, and Kim Tae-hyun was passed as well. By reassigning the duty of an Independent Director to Song E-young, who is a professional economist and a professor of Economics at Sogang University, Kang Yul-ri, who has been building her capabilities in corporation-related legal advice, and Kim Tae-hyun, who is an expert of accounting and financial affairs and a professor of Business Administration at Chung-Ang University, SKIET has reinforced its expertise and management transparency. Other agendas such as approvals of the financial statement and the ceiling on directors’ remuneration were introduced on the table and approved in their original forms by consent from most of the shareholders.

 

SKIET, undoubtedly convinced of the growth potential of the eco-friendly business and the Electric Vehicle (EV) market in the mid to long term, has been enhancing its competitiveness in order to consolidate its foothold in the EV battery separator market.

 

Constantly enlarging its global supply capabilities centered on Korea, China, and Poland, the company plans to closely examine entering the North American market which is expected to grow rapidly in the future. And it’s also aiming to strengthen its market position after preoccupying demands in each region by following each country’s EV business policy to induce intra-regional production.

 

New CEO & President Kim Cheol-jung remarked that “Based on our company’s differentiated capabilities, we’ll promote commercialization of green materials to constantly create new business opportunities which enable leading the market,” noting that “we’ll make a company of which future growth is expected more than its history so far.”
